Landon Chronicles (1930): Siam: Kenneth's Letter: Phuket, Tin Mine, Family (hour 53, clip 13)
Date:
1930
Description:
Margaret and Mrs. Bulkley visit an old Buddhist temple in Nakhon and did some sightseeing. The temple was beautiful and supposedly contained relics of the Buddha. Margaret further decribes the temple and its surroundings. The history of the temple was of a particular interest because it revealed people's lives for centuries. There was a stone with writing in a language that had never been deciphered (a scholar later came and deciphered the writing), and the Brahmin priests were still at the temple. Kenneth talks about their time with the Sheehan family, and the tin mine, the children's growth and behavior, and Margaret's handsome qualities and manners. (Length 2:56)
