Christian Arts Trust (1981-) | Archival Collections at Wheaton College

Name: Christian Arts Trust (1981-)

Historical Note: The Christian Arts Trust was formed in 1981 in London, England with an aim to encourage and promote the expression of Christian truth through the contemporary theatre and the creative arts. The increase of Christian theatre groups in the late 1970's displayed the need and encouraged the formation of the fund. The money is used for theatre companies, for individual people (e.g. a Christian author or director), or for creative conferences. The majority of support goes to various theatre groups for the formulation and performance of theatrical presentations. The Trust has supported over sixty professional projects in the fields of the performing and visual arts. Initiatives we have been able to help in this way have included tours by theatre, dance and mime groups, concerts and recitals, exhibitions of painting and sculpture and creative conferences of Christian artists.
