Margaret and Kenneth explain who Prince Damrong was. He was a very powerful and highly respected person, not only by the Thai but also by all the foreigners living in Bangkok. He was the premier prince. They tell of the coup d'etat that led the Prince to exile. Prince Damrong wrote a letter to Dr. McDaniel from his exile, and Dr. McDaniel was the one who introduced Margaret to Anna's books and the royal family. The Prince was instrumental in the success of several missionaries' work, including the leper asylum that Dr. McDaniel started.
